NASW-IN 3rd Annual Conference on Serving Sexual and Gender Minority Clients

Starts:  Feb 27, 2020 08:00 AM (ET)
Ends:  Feb 28, 2020 05:00 PM (ET)
The NASW Indiana Conference on Serving Sexual and Gender Minority Clients is designed to provide social services practitioners with the knowledge necessary to serve clients that identify as sexual and/or gender minorities in a culturally-responsive manner. Working with this population requires a skill set based on an understanding of both historical and contemporary social and psychological factors that affect LGBTQ+ individuals’ lives. The first day’s session will provide attendees with a beginning to intermediate level of knowledge about working with LGBTQ+ clients across the lifespan. Building on the base of knowledge from the first day, the second day features advanced sessions on various topics related to serving these clients. These specialized sessions will allow practitioners to delve deeper into more complex areas of working with LGBTQ+ clients. After attending the conference participants will have a knowledge base that will allow them to provide services to LGBTQ+ clients in an affirming, educated, and effective way.
